# Installing from the community

> How to find and install themes, templates, and plugins shared by other writers straight from settings, and how to keep them up to date.

You can install themes, templates, and plugins other people have made. Look through them inside settings and install them there.

## Where they are

* **Community themes** — Settings → Appearance. Press Browse on the web and the list opens in your browser.
* **Community templates** — Settings → Templates.
* **Browse community** — Settings → Plugins → Manage.

## Looking through the list

All three screens work the same way. You search with the search box, and the sort options are Trending, Popular, Downloads, and Recent. The tabs differ by kind. Themes have All, Light, and Dark; templates have All, Document, Sheet, and Canvas; plugins have All, Desktop, and Mobile. Press the heart on a card and the Liked button gathers only those. Theme cards you have already installed carry an Installed mark. Templates and plugins carry no mark in the list — you have to press a card and open its detail dialog to see Installed.

## Installing

A theme is applied to the screen the moment you press its card. Press Install in the notification and it goes into your library. Press Cancel and it goes back to how it was.

For templates and plugins, pressing a card opens a detail dialog first. Read the author, the download count, and the description, then press Install. For plugins, every permission requested is written out here. If it carries the Unreviewed mark, it has not gone through review, so install only what you trust.

## Updates

Only what you installed from the community is checked. Files you imported yourself have no original to compare against, so they are left out. Press Check for updates and any row with a new version gets an available badge and an Update button.

Plugins have a separate Auto-update on launch option. It is off by default. Turn it on and pensiv checks on every launch and applies updates that use only the permissions you have already granted. Updates that request new permissions are left for you to review.
