# 7.3 Keyboard-first workflow

> When to use each input method and what it does

In Pensiv, input methods\
are defined by **when** you use them, not by feature.\
What matters is **when** you’re writing what.

***

## 1. Slash command

**Use it when you’re deciding structure first.**

* You want a heading here
* You want a list or divider
* You want to change block type

→ It’s for **defining structure** before you write.

***

## 2. Inline toolbar

**Use it when you’re polishing text you already wrote.**

* You want to emphasize a word
* You want to adjust weight of phrasing
* You want color or strikethrough

→ It’s for **refining expression** after writing.

***

## Quick comparison

| Input method | When you use it | Role |
| -------------- | --------------- | ----------------- |
| Slash command | Before writing | Set structure |
| Inline toolbar | After writing | Refine expression |

***

## Why the split matters

The two don’t overlap.\
They differ in **order**.

* Decide structure first, then write
* Or write first, then clean up

Pensiv supports **both** flows.
