# 4.4 When to look at the graph

> When the graph helps and what it’s for

The graph is not something you leave open all the time.\
It’s something you open **when you need to look**.

The more complex the work,\
the more the graph helps you check direction.

***

## When to open the graph

### When structure doesn’t fit in your head

When you have many documents and plot pieces,\
the overall flow can get blurry.

The graph\
shows how the current structure is distributed\
on one screen.

***

### When you want to check density

* Is one character too central?
* Is one setting only used in one part?

You can check balance\
through **density of connections**.

***

### When you wonder if the center has shifted

As the project grows,\
the center can change.

The graph\
shows **where the center is now**\
visually.

***

### When you want to trace origin

"Where did this setting first appear?"\
"How is this character linked to documents?"

Following connections\
restores context quickly.

***

## What the graph does

The graph doesn’t do the work for you.\
It helps you **check direction**.

> The graph is\
> a **checkpoint** to confirm\
> where the project is going.

***

## Summary

* The graph is not a permanent screen
* Open it when structure feels unclear
* Use it to see current state through connection and distribution

In Pensiv the graph is\
not where you stop;\
it’s where you **realign**.
