# 6.4 Tab drag and move

> Reorder tabs, move between panels, create new panels

In Pensiv, tabs are not fixed.\
You can **drag** them to change order or move them to another panel.

When you need to rearrange the screen while working,\
moving tabs is the fastest way.

## What you can do with tabs

By dragging tabs you can:

* **Reorder**\
  → Change tab order inside the same panel

* **Move between panels**\
  → Drag a tab into another panel

* **Create a new panel**\
  → Drag to the edge of the screen to create a new split

You don’t need to close or reopen files.\
Your work stays continuous.

## When to move tabs

Moving tabs helps when:

* You want one document as the main focus
* You want to put reference material in its own panel
* You want to split the screen temporarily to compare

When you move a tab,\
the layout updates immediately.

* **Left panel**\
  → Main document
* **Right panel**\
  → Sheets, reference, plot
* **Bottom panel**\
  → Temporary comparison or review

This layout is not fixed.\
You can change it whenever the work changes.

## Summary

Moving tabs is not "tidying the layout."\
It’s **repositioning what you’re focused on**.

You can adjust the layout\
based on which file is central.

In Pensiv,\
changing the layout to match your flow is normal.
