Pensiv’s main interfaces
are built around different criteria:
  • Sidebar → space
    • “Where is what?”
  • File view → content
    • “What am I looking at?”
  • Command palette → intent
    • “What do I want to do?”
These three don’t compete —
they’re different ways in for different situations.

Summary

Early on,
exploring space and reading content feels natural.
As you get used to the app,
what you want to do comes to mind before where it is.
That’s when the command palette works best.
Pensiv
asks “what do you want to do right now?”
before “where is it?”

In practice

People who use Pensiv quickly
don’t memorize the layout. They think of the action,
then choose how to get there. The command palette
sits at the center of that choice.
